The Effect of Problematic Internet Use on Learning Engagement under the Perspective of Network Analysis
The purpose of this study was to explore the core symptoms of problematic Internet use and life events,and to test the mediating effect of life events on secondary school students'problematic Internet use and learning engagement.The study collected questionnaire data from 11,324 secondary school students through questionnaire method and analyzed the data through Mplus 8.4 and R4.3.1.It was found that both problematic internet use and life events were negatively correlated with learning engagement,with life events playing a partial mediating effect.Emotional state was a core symptom of problematic internet use and stress state was a core symptom of life events.The present conclusion is that problematic Internet use and negative life events have a hindering effect on learning engagement;emotional depression brought about by the inability to access the Internet can be a core component of problematic Internet use among secondary school students;and sudden shock and accidents are the core components that contribute to secondary school students'self-assessed adverse life events.
