The Teaching and Research System:The Cornerstone of Education in the Building of a Powerful Country
China's teaching and research system emerged with the establishment of China's modern school system in the early 20th century,and continued to develop with the founding of the People's Republic of China.As a system with Chinese characteristics for the guarantee of teaching management and teaching quality,it embodies the cultural tradition of"learning from each other and making progress together"in Chinese education,and conforms to the basic national condition that China has a large population for education;it is an important supporting force for the curriculum and teaching reform in China's primary and secondary schools,an important part of the teacher education system with Chinese characteristics,and a concentrated reflection of the advantages of the socialist system with Chinese characteristics.After years of efforts,China has achieved remarkable results in the construction of the teaching and research system,but there are still weaknesses,such as lack of top-level guidance in the five-tiered teaching and research system,weakened teaching and research in some areas,the insufficient mechanism for the guarantee of teaching and research,the imperfect rural teaching and research system,and insufficient social participation in teaching and research.To improve the teaching and research system and promote the transformation of traditional teaching and research into modern teaching and research,we need to properly handle the relationship between the central government and local governments,between official institutions and non-governmental organizations,between the full-time work of teaching and research and the part-time work of teaching and research,and between the research into test scores and the research into students'healthy growth and teachers'professional development.
