The Ethical Shift and Its Educational Response in the Digital Age
Human society is accelerating its steps into the era of"hyperdigitization,"and digital technology is being fully integrated into all sectors with new concepts,new forms and new modes.While the time and space of human life and its ways of being in the world are reshaped and empowered,they encounter a lot of ethical crises.For example,platform monitoring leads to"collective nakedness"(privacy exposure),information danger becomes a"safe house,"improper use triggers misbehavior,and the"digital divide"accelerates the opposition of the two sides.In the face of these ethical crises in the digital era,such traditional ethics as virtue,deontology,and utilitarianism can no longer make an adequate and effective response,whereas digital ethics provides a new way of thinking.As the sum of the value-related principles and technical specifications followed in the use of digital technology,digital ethics has the highest purpose,namely digital happiness.Education,a practical force that opens up possible lives,must prepare for the"prevention of evil"and the"pursuit of good"so as to accelerate humans'digital existence.The possible paths include holding on to normative construction,and establishing a digital ethics governance mechanism;focusing on curriculum teaching,and improving the digital ethics cultivation system;and jointly carrying out education for digital ethics based on tripartite collaboration.
