The Generation of and the Solution to the Problem of Moral Motivation from the Perspective of the Relationship Between Morality and Happiness
Cultivating students'moral motivation is an important task in moral education.The generation of moral motivation is affected by many factors,among which the relationship between morality and happiness is an important one.Consistency between morality and happiness has always been an ideal goal of people's ethical life,but owing to the complex world of life,"morality"and"happiness"are not completely consistent at the reality-based level.This paradox poses a serious challenge to moral education,and seriously frustrates or even kills students'motivation to practice morality.The traditional solutions such as transcendental power,inner emotions and reasoning provide a basic guideline for the settlement of the problems of moral motivation,but they meet multiple challenges in the modern society of the"disenchantment with the mystery and sacredness of traditions."To solve this dilemma,we need to absorb the"reasonable core"of the traditional solutions and overcome their tendency of one-sidedness,abstraction and absolutism.Based on the unity of man's naturalness and freedom,the unity of moral otherness and moral self-discipline,and the unity of guaranteeing the consistency between morality and happiness and cultivating intrinsic virtue,we can provide a possible solution to the problem of moral motivation by improving the mechanism for rewards and punishment,reshaping our belief in morality and happiness,and cultivating moral conscience.
