A New Paradigm of Educational Research:A Research into AI-Driven Educational Science
The alternation and transformation of paradigms pushed forward scientific change.At present,artificial intelligence(AI)stands at the forefront of scientific change,impacting scientific discoveries and research progress in natural sciences,but it brings new opportunities to the transformation of educational research,and it is expected to influence educational research in such dimensions as ontology,epistemology,methodology and axiology,and promote the establishment of an AI-driven educational research paradigm,namely"Artificial Intelligence for Education Science(AI4ES)."This paradigm will inject computational thinking and technical genes into educational research by providing powerful computing power,and change the underlying ideas of educational research;improve the efficiency of knowledge discovery,unleash the productivity of researchers,promote the construction of an innovative human-machine model of educational research,and change the practice of educational research;and promote the establishment of an interdisciplinary and inclusive organizational system of educational research by strengthening multi-disciplinary integration and cross-disciplinary cooperation,and change the organizational ecology of educational research.Based on this,AI4ES can open new paths of thinking and practice for the research into sub-or inter-disciplines of education.In the future,people will have opportunities to create a new prospect that AI and educational research will pursue parallel development and two-way empowerment.However,to enhance the positive impact of AI in educational science,people must address the challenges from algorithmic innovation and risks to make AI a better driver of educational research.
