The Decline and Reconstruction of Educational Experiments on the Waves of Empirical Research
As a research method that intervenes in and changes practice, educational experiments come into existence in pedagogy's pursuit of scientization, and as scientific representatives, they promote the reform of educational practice and the development of pedagogy.Educational experiments should shoulder the task of promoting the production of educational knowledge. However,in the current pursuit of scientific empirical research into education, educational experiments are on the decline due to many factors, such as the trend of the diversified development of educational research, the post-positivist criticism of the strict paradigm for empirical research, the limitations of experiments themselves in the field of education, and alienated and narrowed empirical research. To build an independent knowledge system for Chinese pedagogy,we need to do educational research based on China's educational problems and practices. The future development of educational experiments should emphasize that the mainstream empirical research is not a multi-technical analysis of static data available, but high-quality action research and experimental research that truly intervene in and change educational practice. Also, educational experiments should abandon a single, rational understanding and the powerful control of the process, reconstruct a concept of practice-oriented care and educational interest, and pay attention to the"soft"control of the experimental process and the diversified integration of methods.Additionally,we need to encourage those school experiments in their natural state and stimulate the active participation of non-governmental education groups;and create an environment for the diversified evaluation of educational research, and change the utilitarian and impetuous atmosphere of educational research.Only in this way can we effectively promote the development of educational experiments and research, and push forward the reform and progress of China's educational theory and practice.
