Returning to the Value of Family Education and Tackling the Dilemmas——Education Toward"an Individual's Becoming a Good Person"
Family education is not only an effective way to make children"become a good person,"but also an important way to continue parental life through intergenerational"planning."However,there is still negligence of the value of"an individual's becoming a good person"in family education,which affects the cultivation of children's sound character and humans'better intergenerational inheritance.Therefore,we need to return to the value and the practice of family education.The logical starting point and practice approaches in family education vary in different spatial-temporal and cultural environments.Modern family education is in the time of ancient and modern integration,the space of Chinese and Western intertwinement,and the social field of family changes.To conduct family education and give full play to its practical functions in such a complex situation,we need to establish the family-developing concept of"existing in generations,"the parent-child concept of showing filial respect to elders,and the talent-cultivating concept of"becoming a good person before becoming a talented person"in the family.Based on this,we need to work together to cultivate children with rich emotions and sound personality by taking practical measures,such as the policy support in"re-familialization"from the government,the reconstruction of"kin co-parenting"from society,the clarification of the boundary between rights and responsibilities in family-school cooperation,and conscious self-action from the family.
