Cultural Memory:The Successive Inheritance and Contemporary Cultivation of the National Spirit
Cultural memory,a cultural root on which a nation depends for survival,carries a nation's historical experience and values.As an important link to maintain national identity,it is transmitted between generations through various cultural media.National spirit,a concentrated expression of the essence of national culture,embodies a nation's value orientation,belief system,code of conduct,and ideal pursuit;it is passed down through cultural memory,and is constantly given new meanings under new historical conditions.Clarifying the relationship between cultural memory and national spirit,and inheriting national spirit according to cultural media are of great significance to the continuation of the historical context,the strengthening of cultural confidence,the promotion of cultural exchanges and mutual learning,and the building of a powerful modern socialist country.From the perspective of cultural memory,the cultural media inheriting national spirit include such symbols as rituals,texts,images,bodies(plus embodied existences)and spatial areas.Based on this,the practice-based approaches to the contemporary cultivation of national spirit include igniting the cultural memory of national members with rituals,activating their cultural memory with texts,capturing images to awaken their cultural memory,relying on the bodies(plus embodied existences)to continue their cultural memory,and gathering their cultural memory with the help of spatial areas.
