The Integration Between Research and Education-On the Resumption and Exploration of the Cultivation for Postgraduates of Sciences in the Chinese Academy of Sciences
Chinese Academy of Sciences(CAS)is an important pioneer of postgraduate education in the early period of the reform and opening up.In 1977,CAS took the lead in applying for resuming the enrollment of postgraduates, and concurrently,it explored the way to train postgraduates, including the establishment of the first postgraduate school in China. In fact, the resumption in No.1 is the reflection of the perception of the CAS that,as the leader in basic sciences, keenly grasped the need of the nation to develop basic sciences at that time.More importantly,it is an emergency countermeasure taken by the CAS to solve the"fault problem"of the talent team in basic sciences.Based on historical documents and materials, this research also finds that,in the process of reconstructing the postgraduate education system, the CAS expanded its educational function by concentrating teachers'teaching in the postgraduate school, arranging specialists and experts to give lectures in postgraduate classes, gathering teaching resources of its branches and collaborating with the teaching forces of its affiliated universities, and succeeded in establishing a cultivation mode for postgraduates of sciences that features integration of academic research and education, specifically by giving full play to the advantages of research institutes to cultivate students with scientific and academic research project and learning experience from international frontier disciplines, which provides a demonstration for the cultivation of postgraduates of sciences towards scientific research in China, accelerating the process of cultivating high-level basic scientific research talents.
