Why Do They Want to Drop Out of School?——Research on Dropout Intention of Postgraduates Based on Grounded Theory
Drop-out intention is the best antecedent variable to predict drop-out behavior.Through grounded theory, this paper explores the factors that influence the generation of the drop-out intention of postgraduates and the generation mechanism thereof, and finds that external stimuli such as interpersonal entanglement and coercion, lack of resources and institutional regulations boost up personal risk perception and negative emotional experience of postgraduates, resulting in drop-out intention.Based on this, this paper puts forward some corresponding solutions. From the external perspective, building a diversified support system for postgraduates to reduce external disincentives to them;and from the postgraduate perspective, enhancing postgraduate personal risk resistance and encouraging them to make good use of emotion adjustment strategies.
