The thinking and expression of body philosophy in Taijiquan
The philosophical research on Taijiquan lacks thinking about the body dimension, and the research on Chinese body philosophy lacks analysis of empirical cases. Therefore, the study of Taiji-quan's body philosophy is of great significance for constructing a discourse system of body philosophy with Chinese characteristics. An analysis suggests that"using softness to overcome hardness"is a body expression of the Taoist concept of"the use of the weak in the Tao",while Taijiquan's use of softness in body introduction is its"bodily use"for life and"technical use"for survival."Self sacrifice and obedi-ence to others"is a manifestation of the wisdom of Chinese philosophy of life's"willing thinking".Taiji-quan uses it as a tactical strategy to guide the physical practice of skill exchange. The practice of"inves-tigating things to gain knowledge"is a practical skill in the epistemological category of Confucian philoso-phy.The practice of Taijiquan involves cultivating the mind, nature, and self-cultivation through the practice of the technique. The integration of knowledge and action is"the cognitive practice of Yang-ming's philosophy of mind"that"consciousness governs behavior",and Taijiquan's"intention without force"is a typical example of the integration of knowledge and action. Therefore,Taijiquan is a direct demonstration of the Chinese body, mind, and body philosophy, and its techniques are both explicit and implicit expressions of Chinese body philosophy.
