Flexibility in living:a transformation in Spanish public housing
Spanish public housing started to explore the concept of flexibility since the late 20th century. The challenges such as integration of new buildings with histori-cal neighborhoods, the formation of public spaces within limited areas, and the man-agement of relationships between layout and programs have driven architects to seek more versatile and inclusive residential mod-els.This paper examines the design strate-gies of key cases, focusing on the temporal, spatial, and functional dimensions of flexibil-ity in contemporary Spanish public housing, which aims to provide references for public housing in China.
