Discussion on the renovation and design of medical buildings:a case study of the International Peace Maternal and Child Health Hospital of China Welfare Institute in Xuhui District
with the progress of the medical model,the existing hospitals in the old urban areas need to carry out sustainable updates to meet their own development needs.During the update process,they will face various complex problems.An adaptive update strategy is a good response.This paper com-bines the design of the Xuhui branch of the China Welfare Foundation International Peace Maternal and Child Health Hospital to demonstrate how to achieve harmony between med-ical functions,medical environ-ment,hospital image,and urban space through consideration of the site conditions,urban space,medical functions,future devel-opment,and sustainable opera-tion.
