Creative Design Strategies for Ancient Urban Renewal under Urban Revitalization:A Case Study on Daru Lane,Pingjiang Historical Block,Gusu District,Suzhou
Urban revitalization was originally a theory proposed by European countries to cope with global competition and to achieve sustainable development.It has guiding significance for the design and development of ancient urban regions in China.In the new era,urban revitalization has been widely applied in the urban renewal design,redevelopment and regeneration of numerous urban regions in China,and has been proven to effectively improve the urban environment and restore urban development vitality.In this thesis,based on the concept of urban renewal design,a case study of Daru Lane,Pingjiang Historical District,Gusu District,Suzhou was conducted.The background of the Daru Lane renewal design project was explored,and the ancient urban renewal design strategies were analyzed based on the concept of urban renewal,with a view to boost rebirth of Suzhou and achieve better economic and social benefits.
