A Study of Impacts and Differences of Work-Life Balance among Participants in the Chinese Construction Industry
Given the intense workload, irregular hours, and high-pressure environment in the construction industry, industrial participants in China are faced with an increasingly greater challenge of work-life balance.Despite varying impacts of work-life balance among different types of industrial participants, there is a scarcity of relevant research findings.Based on a literature review and a questionnaire survey, this paper identified the impacts of work-life balance among relevant industrial participants in China and analyzed the differences in these impacts among different groups of industrial participants. The results revealed that 23%of participants in the construction industry experienced work-life conflicts, with fatigue, inability to unwind fully, and work stress being the most severe negative impacts of work-life imbalance.Furthermore, there were significant differences in how work-life balance affects industrial participants holding different positions. The research findings herein can offer a theoretical framework for formulating specific work-life balance strategies and mitigating the adverse effects of work-life conflicts on industrial participants.
