This paper investigates a type of ancient architectural model that has remained obscured by the prominent tangyang models:the damu muyang(wooden models of timber structures).By examining the five surviving damu muyang and identifying their corresponding architectural structures,this paper provides a comprehensive analysis of their origins.Utilizing relevant historical architectural documents,the production periods and objectives of damu muyang are inferred.Furthermore,this paper elucidates the complementary relationship between damu muyang and tangyang models,highlighting the research significance of damu muyang in the broader context of architectural history.
