A Cultural Exploration of Colour Pressed Tile Decoration in Multicultural Singapore Shophouse Architecture
Shophouse is one of the historical building types in Singapore,and its decorative elements reflect the historical and cultural background of the region.Tile decoration is one of the common elements in Shophouse architecture,which is mainly used in important locations such as roof ridges,gables,pilasters,walls and floors,among which the most common practices are used for walls,including the gallery centre wall,the exterior wall surface,and the walls on both sides of the entrance gate.Both have the role of protecting the building wall,but also can play a decorative aesthetic effect.This paper analyses its decorative pattern characteristics and artistic features from an aesthetic point of view,from which a deeper understanding of the multicultural heritage,in-depth study of the decorative art of colour-pressed tiles in the Shophouse in Singapore,and the heritage and protection of culture has a positive significance in reality.
