"Village Vigorous Nodes"in Outlying Islands under the Background of Holistic Tourism:Study on the Planning of Luxi Wharf Transportation Complex in Dongtou District
Holistic Tourism plays a crucial role in promoting rural revitalization.Luxi, located on an outlying island in Dongtou District of Wenzhou City, faces limitations in construction space and scarcity of project resources. The planned Luxi Wharf should not merely serve as a transportation hub but also assume a pivotal role in the overall development of the island village and the entire tourism infrastructure of Dongtou District. Therefore, seizing this opportunity to address urgent functional elements for rural development and creating a"rural vitality node"constitutes the core concept behind this planning and research endeavor.Considering three major contradictions faced by Luxi—transportation versus tourism, tourists versus islanders, and development versus protection—the research team proposes four key planning concepts:comprehensive transportation integration and transfer, mixed functional use, integration of regional culture, and continuity of place memory.Furthermore, seven business types including transportation distribution, community services, tourism distribution, distinctive catering options, sightseeing opportunities, cultural exhibitions, and comprehensive businesses are further outlined to transform Luxi Pier into a multifaceted transportation complex that will invigorate island villages while fostering the overall growth of northern Dongtou's tourism sector. This approach aims to achieve local development integration with broader developmental goals while providing valuable insights for future endeavors concerning other island villages'growth prospects and small-scale dock complex constructions.
