The Analysis of the Urban Cultural Landscape of Chongqing in the Late Qing Dynasty:Taking a Panorama of Yucheng as an Example
Chongqing became a prosperous commercial town on the upper reaches of the Yangtze River by virtue of its waterway transportation and mountainous resources.It has been built four rounds of urban construction,which eventually formed a unique urban morphology the Qing Dynasty was the last stage of Chongqing's urban development in ancient times,inheriting the essence of the regional culture of successive generations and becoming a model of ancient mountainous space city construction.However,the preservation of Chongqing's city ruins has long been incomplete due to the superposition of age and modern urban construction,and the study of historical opinion maps has provided important clues to the spatial characteristics of Chongqing cities in the late Qing Dynasty.Based on the unique city form and riverfront commercial space of Chongqing depicted in A Panorama of Yucheng,this paper will analyze the elements of the urban cultural landscape of Chongqing City in the late Qing Dynasty from the perspective of urban morphology by combining the literature and image materials,and then summarize its spatial characteristics,as well as explore the reasons behind the formation of the spatial characteristics of Chongqing City in the late Qing Dynasty by examining Chongqing's environmental feng shui,economic interests,and social consciousness.
