Study on the Mechanism of Street Recognizability Enhancement based on Spatial Continuity Measure
In street design,the question of which street element should be continuous or which street element should be unique is particularly important to clarify the mechanism of street identifiability improvement.Taking seven modern commercial streets in Hangzhou as an example,this paper,by measuring the continuity of street elements,explores the relationship between street continuity and street identifiability,and reveals the organizational characteristics of street elements to improve street identifiability.It shows that the complexity of section category,the difference of section category,the continuity of street trees and related greening have a significant positive correlation on the street identifiability,and the continuity of street lamps,billboards,dustbins and pedestrian streamline patency have a significant negative correlation on the street identifiability.
