Plant Selection and Design Features of Flower Borders in Dividing Stripe Greening in Suzhou
In this paper,200 flower borders in dividing stripe greening of 30 urban roads in Suzhou were taken as examples,plant selection and design features of these flower borders were analyzed based on our continuous observation and research in the past year.Results showed that 192 species were used in the flower borders in the dividing stripe greening,belonging to 62 families and 146 genera.Among them,species with high-frequency accounted for 20.83%of the total species,perennial herb species accounted for 50.52%,flower and foliage plants accounted for 81.77%,red and green plants accounted for 64.06%and full-season ornamental plants accounted for 41.15%.In most of the flower borders in the dividing stripe greening,evergreen shrubs and perennials were taken as the skeletal and tonic plants respectively,for assurance of the stability and sustainability of the landscape.Green was selected as the main color in most flower borders in the dividing stripe greening,and another colors were added for application according to the design concept and surrounding environment.Innovations in expression forms in the graphic design and integration of cultural elements in the facade design were emphasized in the flower borders in the dividing stripe greening,leading colorful and diverse appearance.Introduction and promotion of new varieties adapted to the urban road environment and excavation and application of diversified regional elements are the two directions for the further development of flower borders in the urban roads in Suzhou.
