Another Interpretation of Modern Architecture:The Idea of Naturalism in the Architecture of Alvar Aalto
Influenced by the"International Style"architecture of the 1930s,modern architecture has been misinterpreted as simple cubes or glass boxes suitable for all kinds of sites. However,Alvar Aalto paid attention to the relationship between architecture and nature, and interpreted modern architecture with naturalism as the core. The paper combs through the reasons for the formation of Aalto's naturalism concept and analyzes its connotations about architectural works, including the natural metaphor of forest landscape and the spiritual shaping of the concavity and mound.Through an in-depth analysis of Aalto's architectural concepts and works, the richness of modern architecture is shown to enlighten current architectural practice.
