Comparative Study of Spatial Forms of"WeiJu"Architecture in the Hakka Areas of Fujian,Guangdong,and Jiangxi in China
Provinces of Fujian,Guangdong,and Jiangxi are the primary areas where the Hakka people have settled.In specific historical contexts,the Hakka people gathered and constructed numerous buildings called"WeiJu"for both residential and defensive purposes.It identifies the developmental patterns of different types of WeiJu settlements and conducts a comparative analysis of their spatial characteristics,aiming to discover the variations in their development.Comparing the architectural forms of Hakka WeiJu in Fujian,Guangdong and Jiangxi,we found that some WeiJu in these areas have certain similar characteristics or the same construction methods,and there is a certain inheritance and evolution relationship between WeiJu.However,the final forms of the building are also quite different on account of the different space-time and environments in each other.
