Progress in the Application of Eye-Tracking based Visual Perception in the Architectural Characteristics of Chinese Historical and Cultural Districts
Historical and cultural buildings have suffered damage due to commercialization and urbanization, but current methods of protection and inheritance face issues such as subjective grandiosity,a single perspective,a lack of humanistic spirit, and high barriers to participation.Recent research has introduced eye-tracking to address these issues, and this technology has been effectively applied in two major areas:"extraction of distinctive features"and"providing suggestions or solutions"across multiple architectural styles/regions.Research indicates that eye-tracking has effectively overcome the aforementioned issues and made unique discoveries, while also being capable of organic integration with traditional methods such as semantic differential.Based on a reflection on existing research, this paper attempts to summarize the paradigm of eye-tracking research in terms of experimental material selection methods, material types and presentation methods, integration with traditional methods, and analysis methods, with the aim of fully unlocking the research potential of eye-tracking in this field.
