Built in 1933 and completed in 1960,the Pearl River Bridge is the first railway bridge across the Pearl River connected by Guangzhou-San-Guangdong-Hankou Railway in Guangzhou,and is facing renovation demands in order to adapt to the construction of Guangzhou-Zhanjiang high-speed railway in 2025.By tracing the project archives of the Pearl River Bridge,this paper digs deeply into the site selection and construction history of the Pearl River Bridge,and summarizes its heritage value:the use value as a highway and railway traffic node;witness the historical value of Guangzhou's urban planning;the scientific value of construction technology with regional characteristics;social and cultural values shaping urban cultural landscape.It provides a basis for the heritage protection and renovation of the Pearl River Bridge.
