Discussion on Strategies for Preventing and Controlling Imported Monkeypox at Ports under the New Situ-ation
Monkeypox is a rare,sporadic,smallpox like acute infectious disease caused by the monkeypox virus(MPXV).Since May 2022,over 1 000 laboratory confirmed cases of monkeypox have been reported globally,mark-ing the first time in the world that both non endemic and endemic countries have reported multiple cases and clus-tered cases of monkeypox,posing new challenges to the prevention and control of the global monkeypox epidemic.This article provides a review of the epidemiological characteristics,clinical manifestations,laboratory diagnosis,and the current trend of monkeypox epidemic.It proposes personal prevention and control measures for travelers and prevention and control strategies and suggestions for ports to respond to this round of monkeypox epidemic.
