Geochronology evidence of Cretaceous mineralization in Akeshayi Fe-polyme-tallic prospect district and its significance for prospecting
The Akeshayi prospect district is the only polymetallic mineralization area which integrates Fe,Cu and Pb-Zn-Ag in the Tianshuihai terrane,SW Xinjiang.Mineralization in the district includes five types of Fe,Fe-Cu,Fe-Pb-Zn,Cu-Pb-Zn and Pb-Zn-Ag.They are mainly hosted in the Paleoproterozoic Kangxiwa group, the Permian Huangyangling group, the Triassic Bayankalashan group and the Late Triassic biotite monzonite granite in the form of hydrothermal veins. Moreover, there is an apparent metal zoning in the district with Fe in the center,hy-drothermal-vein Cu-Pb-Zn in the periphery and hydrothermal-vein Pb-Zn-Ag in the outermost side. The above geological characteristics indicate that the Akeshayi prospect district is a Fe-polymetallic mineralization district associated with magmatic-hydrothermal activity.Phlogopite 40Ar/39Ar dating yields a plateau age of(130.67±3.52)Ma at Akeshayi.Based on previous research results,we propose that there are three metallogenic series in the Tianshuihai terrane:① Rare-metal metallogenic series related to the Late Triassic pegmatites;②Fe-polymetallic metallogenic series related to the Early Cretaceous magmatic-hydrothermal activity;③Oligocene-Miocene Mis-sissippi valley-type Pb-Zn metallogenic series related to basin brines.Later prospecting in the Tianshuihai terrane should pay more attention to the Early Cretaceous Fe-polymetallic metallogenic series that relates to magmatic-hydrothermal activities.
