An Analysis on Methods and Styles of Mural Painting in Temples of Ganzi Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture
The mural painting in temples of Ganzi Prefecture are subordinate to the mural style system of the Weizang area,and the"Karmagazi School"Thangka painting formed in the Kham region in the 16th century has an impact on the temple murals in the region.Under the premise of an anlysis on the basic methods of traditional temple wall making and mural painting,this paper explores the traditional temple mural style in the Weizang area,as well as the relationship between the parallel development of the"Kar-maGazi School"Thangka and the mural painting formed in the traditional painting techniques.Sorting out the current situation and development trends of mural paintings in temples of Ganzi Prefecture will fa-cilitate a rational cognition of the heritage of mural techniques and the evolution of styles,and establish an objective standard for the value judgment of mural images so as to scientifically protect them.
