The subjectivity of the translator is an essential characteristic of the translator, including their apparent consciousness, invisible consciousness, reader consciousness, and mission consciousness.Vin-cent Yu-chung Shih prioritizes the reproduction of the original ideas in the translation and tries to con-ceal unnecessary translation traces;but when the differences between English and Chinese cannot be re-produced invisibly by the translator,he appropriately appears to expose the translator's presence,in or-der to preserve the exotic charm and source language culture of the original work;he considers readers'necessity everywhere, observes and processes translation from readers'perspective, adapts to contextual requirements, and formulates flexible translation strategies to convey the ideas of the original work;he al-ways remembers his mission, faithfully conveys the ideas of ancient Chinese literary theory, and builds a bridge of interaction and cooperation for cultural exchange between China and the West.He cleverly uti-lized the translator's subjectivity, making his English version of Wenxin Diaolong achieves a harmonious yet distinctive impact, preserving the discourse power of ancient Chinese literary theory and extending the reach of Chinese culture globally.
