Research on Spatial-Temporal Evolution Characteristics and Influencing Factors of the Regional Collapse in China:Based on Evidence from Nightlight Data
The problem of regional collapse restricts the construction of a national unified market and the coordi-nated development of regions in the new era. This paper uses nightlight luminosity data to construct the regional col-lapse index and adopts Theil index, spatial autocorrelation analysis and kernel density estimation method to measure and analyze the spatial and temporal evolution of the regional collapse index in China from the 10th Five-Year Plan to the 13th Five-Year Plan(2001-2020).Then,the author applies geographic detector to identify the influencing factors of the regional collapse index. The results show that the regional collapse in China is generally in a gradient pattern, which is high in the west and low in the east, and the spatial agglomeration characteristics are constantly en-hanced.The regional difference of regional collapse index in China is mainly due to the interregional difference, which shows an inverted U shape. There is significant regional heterogeneity in the evolution trend of regional collapse in China. The changes in the eastern and the western regions are relatively stable, while the central regions"collap-ses"first and then"rises",and the collapse degree in the northeast China is intensifying; The gap between the north-ern and the southern regions is widening, but the gap between the western and the eastern regions remains the main contradiction. The spatial pattern differentiation of regional collapse in China is influenced by various factors such as economy, population, urbanization, administrative level, technology, and transportation.
