Study on the Impact of Urban Sprawl on Green Development
Based on the panel data of 284 cities in China from 2006 to 2019,this paper empirically examines the impact of urban sprawl on green development by constructing two-way fixed effect models, threshold effect models and spatial econometric models. It is found that urban sprawl has a significant negative impact on green development, and this conclusion is still valid after a series of robustness tests. The impact of urban sprawl on green development is heterogeneous, and the negative impact on green development in central and eastern regions, cities without high-speed rail and small and medium-sized cities is more significant. The influence of urban sprawl on green develop-ment has a single threshold effect, and moderate urban sprawl helps to promote the improvement of green develop-ment,but excessive urban sprawl will have a negative impact on green development.Urban sprawl has significant spa-tial spillover effect on green development, which inhibits the green development of local and neighboring areas.Based on this, this paper provides suggestions and measures to scientifically and reasonably demarcate urban sprawl bounda-ries,formulate urban sprawl regulation and control strategies according to local conditions, and strengthen the syner-gistic effect of urban sprawl regulation among cities,so as to improve the level of urban green development.
