The Development Level and Regional Network Structure of Digital Economy in China
Based on panel data from 30 provinces in China from 2013 to 2021,this paper measures the level of provincial digital economy development using the CRITIC entropy weight method. The QAP analysis method is used to reveal the degree of impact of differences in various dimensions on differences in the level of digital economy develop-ment.An improved modified gravity model is used to construct a directed weighted provincial digital economy correla-tion network, quantifying its network structure from three dimensions:overall, local, and individual.Research has found that the development level of digital economy in various provinces is steadily improving, but there are significant disparities in the development level of digital economy among different provinces.Beijing,Guangdong, and Shanghai are far ahead in the development level of digital economy. The average level of digital-real integration in each prov-ince has the smallest change, followed by the average level of changes in the digital industry, and the average levels of digital infrastructure and digital innovation have undergone significant changes. The differences in digital infrastructure and digital innovation are the main sources of disparities in the development level of the digital economy. From the perspective of network structure, the digital economy connections between provinces are not close enough, and neigh-boring provinces are prone to forming cohesive subgroups.Provincial-level regions such as Beijing,Shanghai,Jiang-su,and Guangdong occupy the central position in the network and have strong influence and attraction in the digital e-conomy correlation network.
