Multidimensional Spatial Agglomeration of Industries:A Research Review and Theoretical Framework
Industrial agglomeration is the most prominent geographical feature of economic activities. With the integration and development of industries,it increasingly demonstrates a trend of multidimensional spatial agglomera-tion.Understanding the characteristics and evolution mechanism of the multidimensional spatial agglomeration is the key to grasping the laws of industrial development,as well as a practical need to optimize the spatial layout of indus-tries,which urgently requires systematic research. This paper first reviews the relevant research progress in China and abroad from four aspects:the formation mechanism of industrial agglomeration, the connotation and extension of indus-trial space, the integration trend of industrial development, and the measurement method of spatial agglomeration. It systematically summarizes new insights into industrial multidimensional spatial agglomeration. Then, combined with the analysis of the connotation of multidimensional spatial agglomeration of industries,it constructs a theoretical analy-sis framework of the dynamic process based on three-dimensional space of industry dimension, factor dimension, and scale dimension,as well as four aspects of main elements, action mechanism, pattern evolution, and layout optimiza-tion,and puts forward the key aspects that need attention and research.
