Building upon previous research, this paper points out that the initial construction of the royal cemetery in Yinxu began during the Huanbei Shang City period, constituting a crucial component of its urban layout at that time.Recent archaeological discoveries further support that the abandonment of the royal cemetery took place during the early Western Zhou period, correlating with the political strategies of the Zhou Dynasty after the overthrow of the Shang Dynasty. The date of numerous sacrificial pits in the eastern section of the cemetery corresponds to the early phase of Yinxu, particularly during the reign of King Wu Ding, highlighting the significance of large-scale sacrifices as a crucial political initiative of the"Wu Ding Rejuvenation"era.Additionally, many members of the royal family, particularly those represented by Fu Hao,were interred in the palace-temple area after their death, reflecting the prevailing ideology of kinship during that era.
