From August to December 2004,the Xuzhou Museum excavated three burial pits, namely 04K1,04K2,and 04K3,on the eastern side of the mausoleum at Yangguishan, which is claimed to be a tomb associated with a Queen of the Chu Kingdom.A total of 89 pottery, bronze, lacquer, and other artifacts were unearthed from the burial pit no.04K2,and some of the pottery urns have engraved characters. This burial pit symbolizes the ownership of the granary associated with the palace.Together with other burial pits of different nature and contents, this assemblage constitutes the complex of related institutions and facilities associated with the royal palace. The excavation of this pit provides important material evidence for the study of the burial system and subordinate burial system of the Han Dynasty princes.
