In August 2008,the construction project at the Longji Silicon Materials Company led to the salvage excavation of two tombs dating to the Mongolian and Yuan period by the Xi'an Municipal Institute of Cultural Heritage Conservation and Archaeological. The tombs were located in Jiaocun, part of the southern suburb of Fengyuan walled town during the Mongolian and Yuan period. An unearthed epitaph revealed that the tombs belonged to the same family clan. The architectural structure of the tombs was well-preserved,and unearthed objects were rich. One of the tomb owners,Fu Yuanming, was a military official of the Mongol Empire who died in the fourth year of Mongke Khan's reign(AD 1254),with the official title of Duzongling in Chinese. The excavation of the two tombs provides important material evidence for the study of early Mongolian and Yuan period tombs in the Guanzhong region.
