The archaeological discovery of Mise celadon, initially unearthed in the underground palace of the Famen Temple, alongside findings from the Yue Kiln sites in the Shanglin Lake, has illuminated an ancient and enigmatic concept——Mise celadon.Especially, the archaeological excavation of the Housi'ao Yue Kiln site in the Shanglin Lake,a pivotal location for the production of Mise celadon during the Tang Dynasty and the Five Dynasties, has yielded a large number of archaeological materials for further research.Through examining these unearthed materials and related scientific analyses,it has become evident that Mise celadon differs fundamentally from ordinary Yue celadon across various aspects, including body, glaze characteristics, production techniques, glaze formula, and firing techniques. The unearthed plain fired bowl, devoid of glaze on its exterior surface, has provided insights into the production process of the Mise celadon bowls decorated with gold and silver inlays with lacquer,as found in the underground palace of the Famen Temple. The discovery of a saggar inscribed with'秘色椀'(Mise bowl)further indicates that Mise celadon was distinct from high-quality Yue celadon. As an independent product,Mise celadon was crafted according to its unique requirements from the outset of production.
