During the period of the late Han Dynasty and the Three Kingdoms,a gan-zhi on a dated mirror's inscription usually didn't agree with a gan-zhi on the calendar. This phenomenon resulted from the historical background that dates had been recorded mainly by ordinals instead of gan-zhis at that time.In a date carved on a mirror, ordinals were critical.Inversely,gan-zhis were just interspersal, and people would not pay attention even when they were inaccurate. The introduction of gan-zhis in the date's recording was mainly for the consideration of art.
