Abstract
In August 2020,the Xi'an Municipal Institute of Cultural Relics Conservation and Archaeology excavated three small-scale tombs dating to the Middle to Late Tang Dynasty on Fangzhi West Road,Textile City Street,Baqiao District,Xi'an City. The unearthed artifacts include epitaphs, terracotta figurines, porcelain, bronzes, and ironware.According to the unearthed epitaphs, tomb nos.M15 and M17 belonged to Tian Pi and his wife, with Tian Pi being identified as a lower-ranking military officer. The excavation of these three tombs offers valuable insights into the social life and funerary customs of lower-ranking military officers' families during the Tang Dynasty.A Sancai glazed lion with a banner pole unearthed from tomb no.M19 is extremely rare, which provides important material for the study of Gongxian kiln and Huangbu kiln products and lion imagery in the Tang Dynasty.
