Deciphering the Digital Transformation Paradox:The Heterogeneous Impact of Digital Transformation on the Dual Innovation of Firms
The digital transformation paradox is an important issue that plagues both theoretical and practical circles, having a negative impact on the implementation of digital transformation in enterpri-ses.The diversity of innovation forms, the multiplicity of digital transformation paths, and the influ-ence of contextual variables may be the solutions to this problem. This paper uses a text mining ap-proach to construct metrics to measure digital transformation of enterprises based on annual reports of Chinese listed companies from 2016-2022.We construct a model of the impact of digital transformation on dual innovation of enterprises based on KBV,path dependency theory, and organizational change theory. It was found that digital transformation has a positive impact on exploratory innovation and a negative impact on exploitative innovation.Absorptive capacity partially mediates the role of digital transformation on dual innovation.Environmental turbulence moderates multiple impact paths.Accord-ingly,we propose suggestions to promote digital transformation and enhance innovation performance of firms.
