In response to the practical needs of legislation on the popularization of social sciences,this article reviews the development of science popularization legislation in China and finds that there is a serious imbal-ance between the popularization of natural sciences and social sciences in science popularization legislation,as well as a disadvantage in incorporating social science popularization into the law.Further analysis from three levels:national legislation,national policies,and local legislation reveals that the key to the problem of sci-ence popularization legislation lies in the lack of content on social science popularization in the Science Popu-larization Law.To promote the coordinated development of natural science popularization and social science popularization,it is recommended to include social science popularization in the scope of science popularization through integrated legislation in the revision of the Science Popularization Law,clarify the principle of syn-chronous development of natural science popularization and social science popularization,and coordinate rele-vant science popularization work mechanisms.
