Against the background of downward pressure on the global economy,the establishment of comprehensive cross-border e-commerce pilot zones is of great significance to urban entrepreneurial vi-tality.Using panel data of 272 Chinese cities from 2010 to 2021,this study systematically analyzes the specific impact of the establishment of comprehensive pilot zones for cross-border e-commerce on the entrepreneurial vitality of cities and its intrinsic mechanism by constructing a multi-period double-difference model.The results show that the comprehensive pilot zone for cross-border e-commerce sig-nificantly enhances the entrepreneurial vitality of cities,which is mainly realized through attracting for-eign direct investment,promoting talent concentration and stimulating market demand.Heterogeneity analysis shows that the pilot zones have a particularly significant impact on non-resource cities,central and western regions.The findings of the study can provide suggestions to enhance the entrepreneurial vitality of cities.
