Research on the Impact of Digital Technology on New Smart Cities:Empirical Data from 102 Smart Cities Across the Country
Based on the relevant panel data of 102 new smart cities from 2011 to 2021,this paper uses entropy weight method to measure the development level of digital technology and new smart cities, and studies the impact of digital technology on the development level of new smart cities through me-trological estimation and geographic detector model. The results show that the core explanatory varia-ble digital technology can promote the improvement of the development level of new smart cities, and the benchmark regression analysis confirms the above views, and the conclusion is still valid after a se-ries of robustness tests.Through the analysis of regional heterogeneity, the paper studies the difference of the impact of digital technology on the development of new smart cities in different regions, and finds that digital technology and new smart city development are significantly positively correlated in the eastern, central and western regions, but the eastern region has the most significant driving effect. The geodetector model shows that digital technology, urbanization rate, financial development and for-eign trade dependence are the main factors affecting the development of new smart cities.Among them, digital technology is the key, accounting for 35.9%.There are interactive effects among the im-pact factors, especially the integration of urbanization rate and digital technology has the greatest im-pact on the development of new smart cities.
