Entrepreneurship Education for Top-notch Innovative Talents in Research-intensive Universities:Taking University of Science and Technology of China as an Example
Research-intensive Universities aspire to foster top-notch innovative talents, prioritize original innovation to address the nation's critical technological challenges, and strive for self-reliance and tech-nological advancement.Currently, cultivating such talents demands not only the capability to drive groundbreaking research but also an understanding of market demands and the ability to tackle practical issues. However, the early talent cultivation goals of the country lacked the cultivation of entrepreneurial abilities, leading to relatively weak capabilities in the transformation of scientific and technological inno-vation.The cultivation of entrepreneurial abilities among top-notch innovative talents has become more urgent under the demands of the new era. This study takes the University of Science and Technology of China(USTC)as a case study.Utilizing a case analysis approach,it explores the entrepreneurial educa-tion for top-notch innovative talents from four perspectives:innovation tradition, entrepreneurial mind-set,innovation and entrepreneurship integration strategies, and key challenges. The research reveals that approach to cultivating top innovative talents by USTC is rooted in innovation and underscores the cultivation of entrepreneurial perspectives.By leveraging its innovation and entrepreneurship education college,it has achieved integration of both internal and external innovation and entrepreneurship re-sources.Through four key initiatives encompassing curriculum design,competition-based training,spe-cialized mentoring, and financial support,USTC has forge an innovation and entrepreneurship-oriented talent training model characterized by a solid foundation, practical emphasis, innovation focus, and mul-tiple linkages.During the process of system construction, the entrepreneurial training of top innovative talents at USTC and the cultivation of dual-innovation talents at other universities still encounter chal-lenges due to their distinct training objectives. Some of the key difficulties include:construction of a framework to serve the transformation of scientific and technological achievements;difficulties of in-tegrating innovative and entrepreneurial forces;interdisciplinary integration;the importance of concept cultivation.
