Analysis of the Impact and Mechanism of Artificial Intelligence on Industrial Agglomeration:Experience Analysis Based on Inter Provincial Industrial Level
Previous technological advancements have had a profound impact on industrial layout.As a typical technological shock in the era of intelligence,artificial intelligence still needs to be further ex-plored for its impact and mechanism on industrial agglomeration.This article is based on data from 30 provinces and cities in China with industrial enterprises above designated size from 2003 to 2021,to ex-amine the impact and mechanism of artificial intelligence on industrial agglomeration.Research has found that:artificial intelligence can significantly promote industrial agglomeration,and this conclusion still holds true considering endogeneity and robustness;Mechanism analysis shows that artificial intelli-gence promotes industrial agglomeration by reducing trade and labor costs,improving human capital and technological innovation levels;Heterogeneity analysis found that the impact of artificial intelli-gence on industrial agglomeration exhibits significant heterogeneity before and after the release of rele-vant policies,under different external environments,and market sizes.Finally,this article proposes relevant policy recommendations based on the research findings.
