In today's digital era, data has become an important strategic resource, and data protection is not only related to individual privacy and rights and interests, but also to national security and develop-ment,and countries around the globe are paying increasing attention to data protection. The BRICS countries(Brazil,Russia,India,China and South Africa)have made remarkable progress in the field of data protection in recent years, however, how to further strengthen cooperation and implement the promotion of the construction of legal frameworks for data protection and the integration of legal inter-operability are still urgent issues to be resolved.By analyzing BRICS digital protection policies and laws and initiatives for cooperation in the digital field,it is found that BRICS countries have not only enacted new regulations or amended existing laws, but also established new regulatory bodies and incorporated innovative systems and normative measures into their respective legal systems. In addition,BRICS co-operation initiatives in the digital space reflect a trend towards convergence of data protection policies and legal interoperability.Such convergence and interoperability help promote data flow and cooperation among BRICS countries and improve the efficiency of data utilization, while also providing useful les-sons for global data protection.Against the backdrop of rapid data growth,BRICS countries should seize the opportunity to further deepen cooperation in the field of data protection, and can jointly pro-mote the construction and improvement of the legal framework for data protection by strengthening policy coordination, establishing a cooperation mechanism for data protection, and carrying out techni-cal exchanges,so as to realize the commitment to strengthen internal digital policy cooperation.
