Background To explore the effectiveness and satisfaction of the Feynman learning method applied in teaching psychiatric theory. Methods Clinical medical undergraduates were taught Chapter 2 of Psychiatry(8th edition),Symptomatology of Mental Disorders, using the Feynman learning method and the conventional teaching method. The differences in the effectiveness of the teaching and the satisfaction with the new teaching method between the two groups were assessed using quizzes and self-assessment questionnaires. Results The students in the study group scored similarly on the first quiz but much better on the second quiz than the students in the control group, with the differences being statistically significant.Additionally, compared to the control group, the study group expressed much greater satisfaction with the Feynman learning method. Conclusion The Feynman learning method applied to psychiatric theory teaching can significantly improve learning performance and is highly recognized by students, which is worth further promotion.
