Investigation and Enhancement Strategies for University Students'Ability to"Tell Chinese Story Well"in English in the Digital Media Environment
This study involved 105 participants enrolled in the Intercultural Communication course designed for non-foreign language majors at the 22nd-grade level of Hunan Institute of Science and Technology(HNIST).A questionnaire survey is conducted at the onset of the course to assess the student's ability to"tell Chinese story well"in English from the perspectives of four dimensions:English linguistic competence,comprehension of Chinese culture,application of digital media,and intercultural communication competence.Based on the results,we carried out curriculum reforms in three aspects to comprehensively improve college student's ability to"tell Chinese story well":restructuring the teaching content and carrying out practical teaching to enhance Chinese cultural comprehension and expressiveness;building an interdisciplinary practice platform to improve cross-cultural digital communication skills and literacy;and creating an authentic communication context to strengthen cultural confidence and expand global vision.
