Impact of Modular Organization on the Performance of Engineering Projects
As the management difficulty of construction projects rises, coupled with the modular characteristics of the organizational structure between participants during the outsourcing of engineering projects, this paper identifies two important dimensions of interface design rules and approximate decomposition in modularization degree, from the perspective of organizational modularization.Meanwhile, the cooperation behavior of various participating units is introduced as intermediary variables, and their impacts on project innovation performance is empirically tested based on the results of 196 questionnaire results. The result shows that the degree of organizational modularization of construction projects has a significant positive impact on project innovation performance, among which the cooperation behavior of the participants plays an intermediary role;Under the engineering procurement construction(EPC)model, the division of labour between participating units is clearer, and integrated efficiency and collaboration are more prominent, which is more in line with the high interface rules and the high approximate decomposition of the modular organization, more obviously, improving project innovation performance. Therefore, during the implementation of the construction project, not only should we preoccupy with cooperation behavior of the participating units, but also optimize the organizational form.
