Configuration Effects and Paths Analysis of Commercialization Performance of Scientific and Technological Achievements in Colleges and Universities:Based on the Fuzzy Set Qualitative Comparative Analysis of 31 Regions in China
Colleges and universities are at the core of the scientific and technological development strategy.The commercialization of scientific and technological achievements is essential for colleges and universities to fully realize the value of innovation.China's universities have produced abundant scientific and technological achievements,but their commercialization is far from satisfactory.Using data envelopment analysis(DEA)and fuzzy set qualitative comparative analysis(fsQCA),this paper constructs a theoretical framework of five key factors influencing commercialization performance of the scientific and technological achievements in colleges and universities of 31 regions in China.These factors include school-enterprise cooperation,talent scale,scientific and technological projects,scientific research funding,and the regional economic environment.It explores the configuration effect and paths analysis of the commercialization of scientific and technological achievements.It also analyzes the differences in resource endowments,investments,and commercialization performances of universities in the eastern,central,and western regions.The results show that commercialization performance of scientific and technological achievements in colleges and universities across different regions represents the characteristics of multiple influences and different paths lead to the same destination.Under full consideration of factors such as school-enterprise cooperation,talent scale,and fund investment,three effective paths are identified to advance the commercialization of scientific and technological achievements:the comprehensive advancement path,the resource investment path,and the industry-education cooperation path.If material resources(such as talent scale,scientific and technological projects,research funds,and other factors)are sufficiently provided,school-enterprise cooperation and the regional economy interact are complementary.To this end,colleges and universities should choose the appropriate path for the commercialization of scientific and technological achievements adapting to local conditions.
